The "Compilation of Classics in the Flourishing Age, Painting as a Path to Knowledge—Special Exhibition in Macau University of Science and Technology for Compiling A Comprehensive Collection of Ancient Chinese Paintings" grandly opened on March 2nd at the MUST Art Gallery, R Building. Jointly organized by the Information Office of Zhejiang Provincial People's Government, Zhejiang Radio and Television Group, Zhejiang University, and Macau University of Science and Technology, this exhibition holds particular significance as President Xi Jinping personally inspected the collection of "Chinese Painting Collections Through the Ages" books during his visit to Macau University of Science and Technology on December 19, 2024. The exhibition aims to showcase the wisdom of Chinese civilization in science, medicine, and construction through these precious collections, highlighting their innovative applications in contemporary scientific research.
This "Compilation of Classics in the Flourishing Age, Painting as a Path to Knowledge—Special Exhibition in Macau University of Science and Technology for Compiling A Comprehensive Collection of Ancient Chinese Paintings" delves into the wisdom of ancient Chinese science, medicine, and construction as depicted in historical paintings, presented across three main sections: "Ingenious Craftsmanship," "Medical Principles," and "Architectural Techniques." From the 12,405 sets of precious Chinese painting collections from home and abroad compiled within the "Chinese Painting Collections Through the Ages," nearly a hundred pieces embodying scientific, medical, and architectural wisdom have been specially selected for display, aiming to revisit ancient Chinese technological achievements from an iconographic perspective. Additionally, a special section, "'Chinese Painting Collections Through the Ages' Facilitating Contemporary Scientific Research," demonstrates how this national cultural project promotes interdisciplinary studies. The exhibition runs until March 28th, and we cordially invite all faculty, students, citizens, and art enthusiasts to experience the ingenuity of ancient Chinese wisdom and the profound beauty of traditional Chinese culture.
